Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care for animals and supporting the veterinarian in various clinical tasks. This position requires good communication skills, being a team player and hands-on experience with animal care and handling. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures and provide post-operative care.
- Conduct dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures.
- Handle animals safely and effectively, employing proper restraint techniques.
- Provide education to pet owners on animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Able to handle front desk duties as needed.
Skills
Candidates should possess a combination of essential skills that contribute to effective veterinary care:
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy.
- Experience in animal handling, including dog handling and restraint techniques.
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures.
- Background in veterinary critical care or emergency situations.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to veterinary practice.
- Experience with monitoring anesthesia.
- Be able to multi-task efficiently.
- Ability to perform tasks related to intravenous blood draws and catheters.
