Your Role: Payroll Specialist
The Payroll Specialist US will be responsible for the ongoing administration of the company’s payroll processes for the US including processing payroll actions on time and per schedule established with Elanco’s external payroll partners and adhering to all necessary SOX controls. The Payroll Specialist will also serve as an escalation point and provide timely resolution to employee inquiries.
Your Responsibilities:
US payrolls in coordination with third party payroll vendors.
Participate in year-end tax preparation for the US in coordination with third party payroll provider.
Provide support in processing other Workday country payrolls as needed
Respond to and resolve employee inquiries in coordination with Elanco EBS with high quality customer service and in a timely manner.
In coordination with the HR strategic team, provide guidance for new and existing HR business process configurations into Workday while maintaining a focus on supervisor and employee self-service, along with process efficiency.
Participate in testing efforts for system updates and make recommendations to improve system and process efficiency.
Create and maintain adequate documentation for payroll processing and system changes.
Support other corporate functions such as finance, accounting, IT and legal to ensure GAAP and SOX compliance.
Support other corporate functions such as accounting & finance and benefits in reconciling payroll data to outgoing disbursements.
Work with internal IT partners and external integration partners and vendors to resolve system related issues.
Resolve escalated system issues with high quality customer service.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in multistate payroll, including union and non-union environments.
Strong expertise in reporting and analytics, including advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to work independently, think critically, and consider impacts of decisions.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):
Working knowledge of payroll systems and payroll principles.
Experience working in a company with multiple sites
Experience with Workday payroll a plus.
Experience managing payroll systems and procedures a plus.
Knowledge of financial concepts; propensity and comfort working with large data sets typically within Microsoft Excel.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects or priorities.
Verbal, written and interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated business/process ownership.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Recognized ability to work with confidential / sensitive information.
