Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic is located in Dripping Springs, Texas. Founded in 1993 as a two doctor practice serving the Dripping Springs area, our mixed animal practice has evolved and expanded into a multi-doctor veterinary hospital.

Companion animals, horses, livestock and exotic hooved stock compose the variety of patients seen at our veterinary practice. Clinical services offered are examinations, vaccinations, health screens and in house laboratory testing. Routine surgical procedures as well as extensive dentistry and certain orthopedic repairs are performed daily. We also offer special procedures such as artificial inseminations, endoscopy and ultrasound.

We are seeking a Veterinary Surgical Assistant to join our growing hospital to provide exceptional care to our patients! You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Position Skills:

Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests
Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient’s condition to DVM
Care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operations
High quality client communication on patient updates and questions

Position Requirements:

High School diploma or GED certificate
Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Pay range of $20- $25/hour based on experience
