Hatchery & Nursery Technician (Up to 12 Month contract with the possibility of an extension)

Hatchery technician(s) will participate in daily husbandry of shellfish including:

Larval and Juvenile rearing
Broodstock maintenance and spawning
Nursery husbandry (2nd site location)
Record Keeping
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development
Tank cleaning and disinfection
Support for Research projects

Rotational after-hours & weekend work will be required seasonally and are scheduled amongst the team.

Essential Qualifications

Basic knowledge of shellfish biology
Experience with animal husbandry (fish or shellfish considered an asset)
Proficient in Word and Excel
Attention to detail
Must be eligible to work in Canada
Must have own transportation including for travel between sites
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
This positions requires long periods of standing and being on your feet

Additional Qualifications

Degree or college diploma in Aquaculture or a biology-related area
Experience in Microscopy and/or Algal culture
Experience with Aquaculture Systems and/or Water Quality Monitoring Equipment
