missions :
Maintenance Technician II
Lenexa, KS
Supports the Maintenance team by performing general building, utility maintenance and/or production maintenance activities such as basic mechanical or plumbing diagnostic, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks. To assist in the support of critical production equipment such as filling machines, laboratory table-top units, centrifuges and pressure vessels.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as replacing filters and inspecting belts, gears, and various utilities or production equipment.
- Receive emergency calls and respond quickly to resolve issues.
- Respond to basic maintenance requests and escalate complex issues to senior technicians.
- Complete work orders and scheduled maintenance.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools and material handling equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Conduct daily rounds and inspections of mechanical rooms.
- Support the installation and maintenance of utility equipment under supervision.
- Replace HVAC filters and perform basic HVAC maintenance.
- Interact regularly with Electrical and Utilities Contractors.
- Conduct daily rounds and inspections of production areas.
- Perform Preventive maintenance and visual inspection [belts, gears, wiring, etc.]
- Conduct simple repairs on production and lab equipment such as filling machines, table-top units, centrifuges and pressure vessels.
- Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines.
- Communicate any issues or need for assistance to Maintenance Equipment Supervisor.
- Interact regularly with Production personnel and Contractors.
- Learn to analyze and diagnose basic mechanical and electrical issues.
- Assist in reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repair of production equipment.
- Complete basic work orders and maintenance logs accurately.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Communicate complex equipment issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or senior technicians.

Technical Competencies:
- Basic understanding of hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and proficiency in basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with CMMS Work Request/Work Order completion process.
- Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Familiarity with some Bio-pharma Production and Lab equipment.
- Willingness to work overtime and participate in On-Call rotations as needed.
- Expected to work with moderate supervision or direction.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, or GED certification required.
- Trade School or College coursework is a plus.
- Two to five years of experience operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining utilities or production equipment.
- Experience in the life sciences/pharma industry is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to walk, crouch, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Able to climb portable or permanently mounted ladders up to twenty-five feet.
- Ability to see to identify and avoid safety issues such as slips, trips and falls.
- Able to carry tools up to 30 lbs. for over one hundred feet.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to read, write legibly and communicate in English.
- Ability to type on a keyboard.
Working Conditions:
- Able to qualify to work in a clean room environment when needed.
- Able to work in gowned areas with various PPE.
- Some indoor work may be in hot and humid areas.
- Outdoor work may be required with exposure to all potential weather conditions.
