Job Overview
We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support the veterinarian in providing high-quality care for horses. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment, and ensuring the comfort of our patients. The position is client-facing and a strong command of interpersonal skills is required. The ideal candidate will display compassionate client interactions, have a passion for animal welfare, and a strong desire to learn and grow within the veterinary field.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarian during examinations and procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of animals and people.
- Handle horses with care, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques.
- Prepare animals for surgery and procedures, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness in the clinic by regularly cleaning stalls, treatment areas, and lab/pharmacy.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests with training.
- Provide support in horse husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.
- Assist with the administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient visit.
Experience
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with veterinary care practices is a plus.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and basic veterinary procedures is beneficial.
- Experience with horse behavior or laboratory work is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with horse owners and team members.
- A willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary medicine and animal care.

Pay: $13.50 - $18.00 per hour
