Job Overview
We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support the veterinarian in providing high-quality care for horses. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment, and ensuring the comfort of our patients. The position is client-facing and a strong command of interpersonal skills is required. The ideal candidate will display compassionate client interactions, have a passion for animal welfare, and a strong desire to learn and grow within the veterinary field.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarian during examinations and procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of animals and people.
Handle horses with care, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques.
Prepare animals for surgery and procedures, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications as directed.
Maintain cleanliness in the clinic by regularly cleaning stalls, treatment areas, and lab/pharmacy.
Conduct basic laboratory tests with training.
Provide support in horse husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.
Assist with the administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient visit.

Experience

Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with veterinary care practices is a plus.
Knowledge of animal anatomy and basic veterinary procedures is beneficial.
Experience with horse behavior or laboratory work is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with horse owners and team members.
A willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary medicine and animal care.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.50 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
