Beavercreek Animal Clinic is a small, privately owned clinic just outside of Oregon City. We are searching for a motivated individual who is interested in starting their career journey in the veterinary field. This position will start as a kennel assistant, with room to grow into a veterinary assistant. Ideally, this is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with no nights or weekends! Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain facility including, washing dishes, cleaning surgical instruments, wrapping surgical packs for sterilization, laundry, sweeping, mopping, restocking and organizing supplies and storage areas
- Clean and sanitize exam rooms and kennels
- Maintain cleanliness standards throughout the day
- Daily interaction with cats and dogs of varying size and temperament, handling each animal in a safe, caring and respectful manner
- Assist other staff with patient care
- Collaborate and take instruction from staff
- Maintain a professional and respectful manner when working and communicating with staff and clients
- Continuously improve working knowledge of veterinary medicine skills
What the position could grow into:
- Assisting doctors with exams
- Surgical and dental assistance
- Vaccine and medication administration
- Blood draws and IVC placement
- Pharmacy duties, lab work, and drug calculations
- Outpatient procedures
- Maintaining sterile, clean, and organized hospital environment
- Maintaining complete and proper medical charting
- Obtain medical history and relevant patient information
- Help with day-to-day hospital flow and efficiency
- Customer service duties, including: greeting clients and answering telephones, scheduling appointments, presenting and explaining fees, and patient intake and discharge
- Client education
- Differentiate and prioritize between routine cases and emergency cases and alert staff accordingly
- Be familiar with infectious and common zoonotic diseases; including prevention, and the steps to reduce or eliminate transmission
- Hospital maintenance (including removal of animal waste) and ensuring that facility is neat and clean at all times—both inside and outside
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients
- Completing other projects as assigned
Experience
- Previous veterinary experience is ideal, but not required.
- Motivated candidates without experience who are eager to learn are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Ability to comfortably lift 40 lbs
- Ability to frequently bend, crawl, push, pull, lift, and stand
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
