Hiring Unit:

Department of Biology (Professor Jon Sakata)

Position Summary:

Performs stereotaxic surgeries on songbirds.
Runs experiments on vocal learning.
Analysis of vocal performance and learning.
Processes brain tissue of animals in experiments (histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy).
Helps train lab members on surgical, behavioral, and wet lab procedures.
Animal husbandry and maintenance

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Strong attention to detail.
Team player.
Strong background in bioacoustics and statistical analyses.

Education/Experience:

Master's degree.
PhD in neuroscience or related field an asset.
Five years experience working with animals.

Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
