Ellens Equipment is seeking a Human Resources and Safety Coordinator to join our team. This role leads the HR department and promotes a safe and compliant work environment. The individual will handle recruiting, employee relations, benefit administration, compliance with employment laws, and safety protocols across our McBain, Ithaca, and Beal City locations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and distribute the employee handbook
- Support management with complex employee situations, investigations, accommodations, and terminations
- Manage recruitment, interviewing, and job postings
- Coordinate training enrollments and logistics (travel, hotels, reimbursements)
- Oversee onboarding and orientation for new hires
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices
- Promote and maintain a strong workplace safety culture
- Keep records of inspections, incidents, and safety trainings
- Support benefit administration and employee policy enforcement

Experience:
Previous HR or safety coordination experience preferred
Education:
High school diploma required. Additional HR or safety certifications are a plus.
