MRC Acquisition Company LLC. is a land-based marine RAS facility raising Florida Pompano commercially for wholesale and retail markets. Our Pompano are raised on-site from egg to harvest in a controlled indoor environment. MRC Acquisition Company has recently taken over management roles of a previously existing aquaculture farm known as Aquaco which was founded in 2016 and the site was completed in 2018 with first harvest beginning mid-2020.
The Aquaculture Technician role is vital in our operations and we will have the opportunity to be well-trained with the specific husbandry practices of the Florida Pompano. The role is responsible for the most fragile stage in the species' life cycle is the survivability and later success in the nursery and grow-out stages. The position is responsible for the daily monitoring and maintenance of the operating systems and maintenance of the water quality and fish health. Husbandry includes feeding, tagging, grading fish, etc. The role will have the majority of their time spent in the Nursery and Grow-out areas on a day-to-day basis. This includes:
- Complete daily system checklists.
- Feeding fish at different points of development
- Taking water quality samples.
- Monitor system operation and fish behavior.
- Maintain biosecurity protocols.
- Assist in fish growth sampling and transfers
- Safely handle live fish.
- Ensure proper function of hatchery RAS.
- Troubleshoot, repair, or replace mechanical equipment (pumps, pipe flanges, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness of water quality sensors (oxygen, pH, etc.).
- Coordinate and move water within the system.
- Able to understand how the water quality is affecting the system.
Mutual Expectations:
This job is salary and schedules may include daytime/evening, rotating weekends, and holiday shifts. Breaks and lunch are coordinated daily with your manager and other farm staff. The facility is run during prime hours and may require fast response should there be issues with the farm's off hours.
Preferences:
Background in aquaculture (some basic levels of plumbing, filters, lighting, tank maintenance, etc). Experience with finfish is also a plus. Attention to detail is a non-negotiable as livestock depends on it.1-2 years of hands-on experience desired.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
