Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of veterinary practices. This role involves providing support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality medical care to pets and other animals. The Veterinary Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our patients while assisting with various tasks within the clinic.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of animals.
Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including injections and oral medications.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
Provide basic animal husbandry, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.
Prepare animals for surgical procedures, including catheterization and monitoring vital signs.
Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection.
Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection and processing.
Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' care and treatment plans.
Manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling appointments and handling client inquiries.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred.
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
Experience with animal restraint techniques and handling various species, including dogs, cats, and equines.
Familiarity with medication administration protocols and veterinary critical care practices is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
