Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile hands-on
Construction Manager to oversee a diverse portfolio of construction projects from conception to completion. This role requires a proven leader capable of managing projects across various sectors, including residential housing, commercial convenience stores, agricultural facilities (e.g., barns, storage, processing units), and other general construction endeavors. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in all phases of construction, with a strong emphasis on concrete, plumbing, water lines, and related infrastructure, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within financial guidelines, and to the highest quality standards.

At Niewohner Entities, we value collaboration throughout industries. We operate in multiple areas and growing! Delbert & Marilee Niewohner started their farm and cattle operation near Albion, Nebraska. Along with their four sons, they have expanded this operation to include farming around 15,000 acres, growing mostly corn, operating three feedlots, feeding around 75,000 head of cattle, raising farrow to finish confinement with about 18,000 swine, and manufacturing the Batch Box, SiDump’r, and Beaver Bearings. We are proud to be three generations strong and carrying on the family tradition of caring for animals and land.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, budgets, and schedules, ensuring all permits and documentation are complete.
- Oversee daily on-site operations, maintaining safety, quality, and compliance with project plans.
- Supervise an internal team of 4 and subcontractors, monitor progress, and resolve on-site issues promptly.
- Manage project budgets, expenses, and change orders while negotiating contracts and approving payments.
- Implement quality assurance standards and inspection procedures to meet design and industry specifications.
- Coordinate and evaluate subcontractors and vendors to ensure on-time, high-quality performance.
- Serve as primary contact for clients and management, preparing reports and leading regular project meetings.
- Identify potential risks and develop proactive solutions to maintain schedules and resolve challenges.
- Utilize expertise in concrete, plumbing, and water system installations for agricultural, residential, and commercial projects.
Qualifications:
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering diverse projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field ; equivalent experience considered.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects in at least two of the following sectors: residential, commercial (especially retail/convenience), or agricultural.
- Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of concrete, plumbing, and water line systems.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations and ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Exceptional leader with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; highly adaptable and effective at managing teams and multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
- Role requires both office and on-site work with frequent travel; must be able to navigate active construction environments, lift materials as needed, and maintain a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Prefer OSHA 30-Hour Construction and PMP (Project Management Professional) certifications.
