Job Title: Diesel Maintenance Manager

Position Overview:
The
Diesel Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance, repair, and servicing of diesel-powered equipment, trucks, and machinery to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role leads the maintenance team, manages preventative maintenance programs, controls repair costs, and ensures all work is completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all diesel maintenance activities, including inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance for engines, trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Lead a team of 3-5 diesel mechanics/technicians through scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Monitor maintenance budgets, track repair costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and parts inventory.
- Work closely with operations and dispatch teams to minimize service disruptions.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic issues and provide technical support to the team.
- Promote and enforce workplace safety procedures.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships for parts, equipment, and outsourced services.
- Provide ongoing reporting to senior management on fleet status, maintenance activities, and cost analysis.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or an associate degree in diesel technology, automotive technology, or related field preferred.
- 5-7 years of diesel mechanic experience, including 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimize resources.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
