Starting off as a farm and cattle operation near Albion, Nebraska, Niewohner Entities has grown to 3 cattle feedlots, as well as farrow to finish swine confinement. Other divisions include The Batch Box, SiDump'r, Feeding System, Beaver Bearing, and Upper Iowa Beef.
General Purpose
Operates gasoline and/or diesel-powered tractor/trailer combinations to transport agriculture products such as
livestock (hogs and cattle), feed commodities, or other materials in loose or packaged form in a
timely and safe manner to each feedlot/location. This role requires
rotation between different hauling duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
In this operation, every employee must focus on the priorities of:
Animal Health & Welfare; Employee Safety; and Overall Productivity.
- Rotates hauling duties as required, specifically transporting hogs and cattle, in addition to other agricultural products.
- Maneuvers tractor/trailer combinations safely and skillfully in diverse environments, including confined areas, feedlots, and farms.
- Adhere to the requirements and guidelines established by the Owners and Manager, and adhere to the policies included in the Employee Handbook.
- Operate a tractor/trailer combination to transport agriculture products, feed commodities, and livestock; drives local haul.
- Perform the protocol established for loading/unloading distillers/synergy.
- Follow all regulations and laws, maintaining DOT and DMV standards with regards to safe transport.
- Complete pre- and post-trip inspections, checking for defects. Check all equipment including lights, brakes, tires, etc. Replenish fluids such as fuel, oil, and water.
- Maintain a daily driver's log in compliance with Company policy and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and adhere to such.
- Assist in loading and unloading of product. Ensure accurate records regarding headcount and weights.
- Be responsible for all paperwork associated with the task at hand such as swine, cattle, distillers, Synergy, etc.
- Deliver to the location that you are instructed.
- Keep the truck service sheds clean, organized, and efficient.
- Check all incoming distillers/Synergy for the quality of product and report the status. Complete appropriate paperwork.
- Coordinate deliveries with the office and the dispatcher.
- Promote a sense of teamwork, camaraderie, safety, and an enjoyable work environment.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Prior driving experience with a good driving record required.
- CDL preferred, but not required.
- Proven ability to haul and handle livestock (hogs and cattle) or willingness to be trained.
- Demonstrated proficiency in maneuvering large vehicles in various conditions.
- Driven, organized, action-oriented, analytical, and ability to multi-task.
- Individual must be team oriented.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to meet DOT standards established for the physical certificate.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 25-75 lbs.
Dress and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must wear appropriate clothing for all operations to protect against injury.
- Safety eyewear must be worn when loading/unloading.
- When servicing the vehicle, make sure all PPE is being worn, such as gloves and glasses.
Work Environment
- The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, and is occasionally exposed to humid conditions, ambient air, hot and cold temperature, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, and chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high.
