REQUIREMENTS:
- CVT or LVT degree required (Must be current) - If not a CVT or LVT, please apply for our Vet Assistant position

- Strong verbal skills, an ability to connect with clients and work positively in a team environment is a must.
- Key required skills: ability to place catheters, draw blood, monitor anesthesia, assist in surgery, be calm under pressure, flexibility and versatility, high proficiency with animal restraint and customer service, and ability to effectively multi-task
- Availability to work full time shifts: including some mornings, evenings and weekends, specifically availability: Mon - Fri from 7:00 am-7 pm, and Saturdays from 7:45 am-2:30 pm
- Leadership skills are a plus!

JOB DUTIES:
- Supports surgeons by assembling required supplies and instruments; setting-up surgery table instruments; restraining animals; completing local/regional anesthesia; operating and monitoring anesthetic machines; hooking-up ECG monitors; preparing surgical site; placing catheters; cleaning-up post-surgical site; maintaining sterile conditions; obtaining and verifying medications.
- Supports individual and / or team of DVMs by: managing laboratory testing, performing treatment area procedures such as anal gland expressions, nail trims, diagnostic imaging, blood draws, laser treatments, injections, and fluid therapy
- Cares for animals by taking vital signs; collecting samples; administering medications, drugs, and vaccines; bandaging and wrapping wounds
- Supports animal examinations by assembling required supplies and instruments; securing and bringing animals to examination room; restraining animals; taking detailed histories, providing assistance as directed; explaining animal's status to owner, checking in and discharging surgery patients.
- Builds rapport with clients, is able to communicate well in a friendly, professional, and confident manner, is able to relay information accurately from DVM to client and vice versa.
- Consistently demonstrates an upbeat, positive, and ‘can do’ attitude.
- Maintains animals by feeding and watering animals; cleaning animals' rooms and cages, and equipment; changing cages; observing for clinical signs of disease.
- Maintains safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments; sanitizing and disinfecting holding and operating areas; storing sterile supplies; verifying shelf life; following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Maintains animal records by documenting animal conditions, reactions, and changes; updating database.
- Maintains equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining equipment supplies; performing preventive maintenance, notifying managers of needed repairs
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; notifying managers of needed orders; verifying receipt.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional journals.
- Consistently demonstrates team approach by being willing to take on additional responsibilities including helping clients at the front counter when needed (rare), answering the phone (rare), and helping with other duties as necessary.
- Clearly and consistently shows empathy and interest in our patients (animals).

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Some Saturdays required
- Some weekend treatment shifts required (a few per year)
- Day shift (Mix of 8's, 12's, 10's, and half days depending on schedule and need)
