AG Science/Mechanic Teacher
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas Teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
- English as a Second Language certification, or ability to obtain, required for ERLA positions
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Classroom Teaching Experience, preferred
- Student teaching or approved internship, accepted
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design clear, well-organized, sequential lessons that reflect best practice, align with standard and are appropriate for diverse learners
- Use formal and informal methods to measure student progress, then manage and analyze student data to inform instruction
- Exhibit through knowledge of students and proven practices
- Ensure high levels of learning, social-emotional development and achievement for all students
- Plan engaging, flexible lessons that encourage higher-order thinking, persistence and achievement
- Support all learners in their pursuit of high levels of academic and social-emotional success
- Use content and pedagogical expertise to design and execute lessons aligned with state standards, related content and student needs
- Clearly and accurately communicate to support persistence, deeper learning and effective effort differentiate instruction, aligning methods and techniques to diverse student needs
- Formally and informally collect, analyze and use student progress data and make needed lesson adjustments
- Organize a safe, accessible and efficient classroom
- Establish, communicate and maintain clear expectations for student behavior
- Lead a mutually respectful and collaborative class of actively engaged learners
- Meet district expectations for attendance, professional appearance, decorum, procedural, ethical, legal and statutory responsibilities
- Reflect on your practice
- Enhance the professional community
- Demonstrate leadership with students, colleagues, and community members in the school, district and community through effective communication and outreach
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
- Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
- Adhere to the district's safety policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assigned
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
