Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care, veterinary procedures, and client communication. This role involves providing high-quality medical support for a variety of animals, including dogs and cats, ensuring their well-being through skilled technical procedures and compassionate pet care. The Certified Veterinary Technician will work closely with veterinarians to deliver exceptional veterinary services in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and other diagnostic procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed
- Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations and procedures
- Conduct animal catheterization, sample collection, and other technical procedures
- Maintain aseptic techniques during surgeries and medical procedures
- Provide pet grooming, dog training assistance, and basic pet care instructions to clients
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines and dental tools
- Monitor animal vital signs and recovery from anesthesia or treatments
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure proper documentation of all procedures performed
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning kennels, and ensuring overall animal welfare
- Support pet owners with education on animal physiology, anatomy, pet grooming, and general animal care
Qualifications
- Certified Veterinary Technician with current licensure or certification in the state of employment
- Prior veterinary technician experience preferred; experience with veterinary critical care is a plus
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices
- Experience working with laboratory equipment and performing diagnostic tests such as X-rays
- Familiarity with kennel management, dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and pet grooming
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques; experience with equine care is advantageous
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Excellent communication skills for client education on pet health and husbandry practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
