Gernaat Dairy is looking to hire a full-time Equipment Operator- Farm Hand. This position will require the safe operation of various forms of farm equipment, specialized, but not limited to the agronomy side of the operation. Along with operating the individual would assist with general maintenance and repairs of both heavy equipment and the dairy facilities related to the operation.

What you will be doing:
Equipment operation:
- Operating mostly late model John Deere and Cat equipment
- Seasonal tasks such as tillage, planting, fertilizer and chemical application, creating silage piles along with various other tasks
- Light excavation projects with equipment such as Loaders, Dozers, Dirt pan, and Road Grader for maintaining grounds along with new construction sites
- If already obtained or willing to obtain the proper licenses for driving Semi on local runs and tendering application equipment.
- If needed operating equipment that supports the dairy such as Loaders, Tractor and Feed mixer, Sand shooters and Skid steers.
Equipment Repair and Shop work:
- Mainly during off season and periods of poor weather
- Assist the lead mechanic with repairs to various forms of equipment during the off season
- Trouble shoot and communicate breakdowns and repairs as needed for equipment as a team.
- Help to maintain and service all equipment as needed
Facility Repairs:
- Mainly during off season and periods of poor weather
- Assist with repairs on barns, parlors, and various facility buildings
- Assist with repairs and maintenance on alley scrapers and manure handling equipment.
Experience preferred but not required:
- Back ground or experience in agriculture
- Experience running heavy equipment
- Experience with equipment repairs and light fabrication
