Our client is seeking a Locum Veterinary Surgeon (Diplomate or practice-limited) to provide surgical cover at a specialist referral and emergency hospital located in Austin, Texas. This locum opportunity offers flexibility while working within a highly equipped, multidisciplinary clinical environment.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced small animal surgical procedures across a range of referral cases
n Assess patients pre-operatively and develop appropriate surgical plans
n Collaborate with internal medicine, emergency and other specialist teams for integrated case management
n Provide post-operative care guidance and monitor patient recovery outcomes
n Maintain accurate surgical and medical records for all cases managed
n Communicate effectively with referring veterinarians and pet owners regarding procedures and outcomes
n Participate in clinical discussions and case handovers to support continuity of care
n Uphold high clinical and surgical standards within a specialist hospital setting

Qualifications Needed

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) or equivalent veterinary degree
n

Board-certified Veterinary Surgeon (Diplomate) or practice limited to small animal surgery
n Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the state of Texas
n Strong experience in advanced surgical procedures and case management
n Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary referral environment
n Excellent communication skills with both colleagues and clients
n Confidence managing complex surgical cases independently
n Commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical and surgical care
