Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join our energetic and hardworking team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care to our beloved pets, ensuring their health and well-being. This position is primarily small animal with some exotics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of small animals, including dogs and cats, assessing their health status using veterinary terminology and knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy.
- Diagnose medical conditions accurately through clinical assessments, laboratory tests, and imaging techniques.
- Perform surgical procedures such as spaying, neutering, and minor surgeries with precision and aseptic technique.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments tailored to each pet’s needs while ensuring proper animal restraint and handling.
- Assist in emergency critical care situations by applying veterinary critical care experience, including animal catheterization and advanced life support protocols.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry, grooming, nutrition, and preventive health measures to promote long-term wellness.
- Maintain detailed medical records, utilize veterinary terminology effectively, and communicate treatment plans clearly to clients.
- Support team members with animal restraint during examinations or procedures, ensuring safety for both animals and staff.
- Uphold high standards of animal care by practicing aseptic techniques during procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment.
- Contribute to the overall well-being of the practice by participating in ongoing training related to animal handling, laboratory procedures, and equine experience when applicable.
Qualifications
- Veterinary degree from an accredited institution with valid licensure or eligibility to practice veterinary medicine.
- Proven experience working with small animals in a clinical setting; experience in veterinary critical care is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary terminology essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Skilled in animal restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other small pets to ensure safe examinations and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in performing laboratory tests, administering injections, catheterization, and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent animal handling skills combined with compassionate pet care practices.
- Experience with pet grooming or pet care advice is a plus for holistic client education.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in emergency situations while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary diagnostics; familiarity with equine experience is an added advantage but not mandatory. Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
