Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian (DVM) to join our mobile veterinary dental practice in Austin, Texas.
You will work inside a brand-new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter High Roof, professionally converted into a fully equipped mobile veterinary clinic, featuring:
- Independent AC in the cargo/clinical area
- All new, modern veterinary dental, anesthesia, imaging, and laboratory equipment
- Ergonomic exam and dental treatment workspace
This position is focused on high-quality dental medicine for dogs and cats, serving:
- Direct pet owners, and
- Animal hospitals, veterinary clinics, and pet shops that do not have in-house dental infrastructure or specialized dental personnel.
You will be supported by a trained veterinary technician who assists during procedures and drives the unit, allowing you to focus exclusively on patient care and clinical excellence.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal health and welfare, with the ability to provide comprehensive medical care on dogs and cats. This role involves diagnosing, treating, and preventing health issues in animals, ensuring their well-being through expert veterinary practices (Dental). Candidates should possess excellent animal handling skills and a thorough understanding of veterinary terminology and physiology. Experience in veterinary Dental care, laboratory procedures, and animal restraint is highly desirable.
Duties
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to diagnose health issues using veterinary terminology and knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology
- Perform surgical procedures (Dental and other minor surgeries)
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments tailored to individual animals’ needs
- Restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures, utilizing animal restraint techniques for dogs and cats.
- Assist pet owners with pet care advice, grooming, and behavioral guidance such as dog handling and pet grooming
- Maintain accurate medical records and document all treatments, procedures, and observations
- Collaborate with laboratory staff for diagnostic testing and interpret laboratory results to inform treatment plans
- Educate pet owners on animal husbandry practices to promote health and wellness
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques during all procedures to prevent infection
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution
- Valid veterinary license in the practicing state or region (Texas)
- Strong animal handling skills across multiple species, including dogs and cats
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care practices
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations or procedures
- Experience with Pet dental care, laboratory diagnostics, pet grooming, pet catheterization, and aseptic techniques highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration
- Ability to work efficiently in a modern mobile unit while maintaining compassion for animals and their owners
